Dear PS/MS 146 School Community,

Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year ! We would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to the new PS/MS 146 Guidance Team and share the many ways we are here to support our students and families throughout the school year.

Our Guidance Team consists of Mrs. Michele Amato, School Social Worker, and Mrs. Cristina Hart, School Counselor..Together we work closely with our students, families, teachers, and staff to help create a safe, supportive, and welcoming school environment where every student feels valued, understood, and prepared to succeed.

The Guidance Team at PS/MS 146 supports a wide range of needs within our school community including social emotional learning, individual and group counseling, crisis intervention , attendance, peer relationships and confl ict resolution, school adjustment, and middle school and high school applications and much more.

Throughout the school year, we provide individual and group counseling support for students who may be experiencing social, emotional, academic, or personal challenges. We are here to provide students with a safe and supportive space to talk, problem-solve, develop coping strategies, strengthen relationships, and build the skills they need both in and outside of school.

Our team also supports Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) throughout our school community through classroom lessons, assemblies, small groups that address various topics such as anti-bullying, confi dence, peer mediation, coping skills and emotional regulation.

As students prepare for their next educational chapter, the Guidance Team also assists our 5th-grade students with the middle school application process and our 8th-grade students with the high school application process. We work alongside students and families to help navigate applications, explore school options, answer questions, and make the transition to the next stage of their education as smooth and successful as possible.
