Welcome back to the 2026-2027 school year at P.S./M.S. 146Q, The Howard Beach School!

I hope you and your families had a wonderful summer filled with special memories, and time together. As we begin a new school year, I am excited to welcome our students back and look forward to all that we will accomplish together.

As an Assistant Principal and direct supervisor for 3K through 4th grade, I am honored to support our youngest Bluehawks as they grow academically, socially, and emotionally. These early years are an important foundation for a child’s educational journey, and I am committed to helping create a school environment where every student feels valued, and excited to learn.

At P.S./M.S. 146Q, we know that strong schools are built on strong partnerships with families. When our families and school work together, communicate openly, and share in the responsibility of supporting our children, our students are better positioned to thrive. Dear Parents, Students, and Staff of PS/MS 146Q,

As we begin another school year, I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself to our new families and welcome back our returning students and families. My name is Marybeth Romano Mckie, and I am an Assistant Principal at PS/MS 146Q. I am looking forward to working alongside our staff and families to make this a truly remarkable year for our school community.

As we begin a new school year, I believe it's the perfect time to embrace the opportunities that come with a fresh start. Whether you're a student, teacher, staff member, or family member, we all have the chance to put our best foot forward and accomplish our goals for the school year. I am here to support you along the way, in any way possible.

As the Assistant Principal, I will be focusing on ensuring that our students receive not only a strong academic foundation but also the social and emotional support they need to thrive. I’m also eager to engage with families, be an active thought partner, and be an active part of the community here in Howard Beach.
